Why Use Yoga Props

Yoga props such as block, band, bolster and chair together with blankets, cushions and eye pillows all enhance our Yoga experience. Keeping in mind every time we come to our Yoga mat our practice will be different, because we are different. Props assist us to come into a Yoga posture that is suitable for our Yoga practice intent for that day. We might want a gentle practice, we might want to hold a posture for longer, we may want to counter the effects of our day over a computer. Using blocks to support you in a lunge allows you to lift and open the front of the body a little more. Some Yoga postures are designed to be practiced using a prop, such as Supta Baddhakonasana where we recline over a bolster.
